On the Needle: Good Girl
Updated: May 4
In 2020 Good Girl released their first full project compiled with eight hot tracks for the ladies to vibe to. The first track you'll hear on the project is entitled “Thirsty” featuring Mulatto, a rising female hip hop artist signed to Gucci Mane’s 1017 record label. The group is truly talented when it comes to harmonic blends and lyricism. These four women are bringing back real R&B and it’s apparent with the Carl Thomas sample on track number three entitled “Don’t Talk Back”.
This philly quartet has come a long way since America’s Got Talent. Although they didn’t win the competition, this R&B girl group has been making major noise in their hometown. Their harmonies and sharp dance moves keep people on their toes. They have a distinct and unique approach to their audience with bright hair colors and an even brighter future in the music industry. Former American Idol judge Simon Cowell told the group “There is a gap in the market for a band like you right now“ and he was spot on with his comment. The group took to YouTube to cover female artists in the industry such as Tink, Ariana Grande, and Jessie J which have all reached thousands of views. In 2014 the group released an EP entitled ‘90’s Kind of Love’. The EP holds a compilation R&B samples and melodies for fans to vibe to and enjoy. There hasn’t been an R&B group like them since Destiny’s Child split in year 2005. I hope to hear more from them in the near future!
